FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The No. 24 Indiana Tech women's basketball team hosted the Warrior Classic this weekend, with Saint Xavier University, Rochester University, and Olivet Nazarene University rounding out the field of competition. Tech picked up two wins on the weekend, starting with the Cougars of Saint Xavier on Friday night with a 73-58 win before winning their second game over Olivet Nazarene on Saturday with a 96-76 final score.
The Warriors shot 42.4% from the field Friday night in their matchup with the Cougars, going 25-59.
Kyra Whitaker led the Warriors in scoring with 25 on 8-15 shooting while knocking down 5 threes on 10 attempts. She also added 4 rebounds and 3 assists.
Erika Foy added 17 points to the Warriors' total while pulling down 9 rebounds and dishing out 3 assists.
Genevieve Decker was a spark off the bench scoring 12 points and grabbing 6 rebounds. Freshman Taylor Covington scored 11 points on 4-11 shooting while adding a team-high 7 assists.
In game two of the tournament, the Warriors shot 63.6% from the floor while going 6-15 from behind the three-point line.
Kyra Whitaker scored a game-high 34 points for the Warriors on 13-18 shooting while dishing out 2 assists.
Genevieve Decker came off the bench for Tech scoring 18 points in her 32 minutes while grabbing 4 rebounds and dishing out 6 assists.
Erika Foy went perfect from the charity stripe, going 3-3 while scoring 15 points and bringing down 8 rebounds. Taylor Covington added 11 points for Tech while dishing out a team-high 10 assists.
Bethany Worm added 7 points while bringing in a team-high 13 rebounds.
Tech hosts Siena Heights University for their first WHAC matchup Wednesday at 6:00 PM in the Schaefer Center. The Warriors are 17-21 against the Saints, winning their last 6, most recently on February 9, 2022, with a 71-45 final score.
