Women’s Hockey Cruise Past Cardinals

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women's hockey team took on Concordia University (Mich.) in a weekend series starting at home Friday night, where they won 11-2 before going on the road to win 2-0 on Saturday. With both wins, the Warriors move to 10-2 on the season and 6-1 in conference play.
 
Game one of the weekend series was hosted by Tech at the SportONE/Parkview Icehouse, where the Warriors found the net 11 times en route to victory over the Cardinals. Megan Yakiwchuk opened the game's scoring, putting one past the goalie 2 minutes into the first period. Yakiwchuk went on to find the net 3 more times, bringing her goal total to 4 for the game. Also scoring for Tech was Dakota Bowler (2), Michele Borland (2), Izzy Pettem-Shand, Sterling Nesbitt, and finding the net for the first time in her Warrior career was Caylee Crowson. Tech recorded 15 assists in the game, coming from Lauren Younker, Izzy Pettem-Shand (6), Genessie Williams, Brooklyn Moore, Megan Yakiwchuk, Maddie Beek, Caylee Crowson, Dakota Bowler (2), and Michele Borland. Mackenzie Addley faced 16 shots during her time in the net, saving 14.
 
Saturday, the Warriors traveled to Jackson, Michigan, to take on the Cardinals. After two scoreless periods, Tech broke through, with Allison Greene finding the net on an assist from Brooklyn Moore. Shortly after, the Warriors scored again; this time, Molly McElhaney beat the keeper on assists from Megan Yakiwchuk and Allison Greene. Mackenzie Addley faced 20 shots in goal, saving all 20 to earn the shutout.
 
Tech hosts the University of Rhode Island this weekend starting at 7:30 PM on Friday, November 11. The puck drop on Saturday will be at 2:30.
