Warriors Dethrone Knights for First Win

INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Tech women's lacrosse team defeated in-state rival Marian University 12-4 Wednesday evening at St. Vincent Field for their first win of the young season.

Faith Donally tied her career-high with four goals while tallying an assist for a career-best five points. Halli Reinhard had three goals and an assist while picking up two ground balls and winning two draws. Abbey Wilson, Brooke Buhr and Jade Hamilton all had four ground balls while Wilson had four caused turnovers and four draw controls and Buhr added four draws and caused three turnovers. Sydney Oberdorfer picked up her first collegiate win in the cage with eight saves.

Tech struck quickly with three goals in less than two minutes with Wilson, Reinhard and Donally scoring at 11:13, 10:29 and 9:29 in the opening quarter to get the jump on the Knights. Marian answered with a goal at the 6:39 mark, but Reinhard responded with her second goal of the game less than a minute later. The Orange and Black continued their offensive onslaught in the second with three more goals and took a 7-2 lead into the locker room.

The visitors pushed their advantage to 9-2 within the first five minutes of the third quarter and while the Knights got two quick scores from Katelynn Gray in 36 seconds to make it a 9-4 game with 9:03 in the third, the hosts would not find the back of the cage for the rest of the game with Tech's defense limiting them to just five goals shots in the fourth and just three on target.

Tech (1-1) returns to action on Saturday, March 19 as they open conference play against No. 9-ranked Siena Heights University, led by 2016 alum Alexa Winter. Opening draw is set for 5 p.m. from Warrior Athletic Field.
