WOOSTER, Ohio – The Indiana Tech women's lacrosse team began its 2022 season on the road Saturday afternoon against the College of Wooster, falling 18-7 inside John P. Papp Stadium.
Abby Barkdull had a game-high four goals while adding three ground balls.
Abbey Wilson scored twice and had two draw controls.
Halli Reinhard had a goal, three ground balls, two caused turnovers and two draw controls while
Sydney Oberdorfer had 13 saves in the cage.
Barkdull put the Warriors on top first with a goal at the 12:57 mark, only to see Jill Murray score her first of three goals, one of three Wooster players to record a hat trick on the day, 46 seconds later. Wilson put Tech back on top with a goal at the 9:21 mark, but the hosts responded with two scores to lead 3-2 at the 6:51 mark. Barkdull knotted the game up at 3-3 with her second goal of the day at the 5:03 mark in the first, but the Fighting Scots exploded for a 10-0 run over the next 19 minutes to take a 13-3 lead into the locker room at the half.
Reinhard and Wilson scored at the 10:38 and 8:10 mark of the third to cut the deficit to 13-5, but Wooster answered back with a 4-0 run to make it 17-5 with 12:39 left in the fourth and were never threatened again.
Tech (0-1) returns to action Wednesday as they travel to Marian University. Opening draw is set for 6 p.m. from St. Vincent Field.
