FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The No. 2-ranked Indiana Tech men's lacrosse team defeated Siena Heights University, 10-8, Saturday afternoon at Warrior Athletic Field.
Andrew Ryan and
Samuel Bodley both had three goals with the former adding three ground balls and two caused turnovers while the latter had an assist and three ground balls.
Nate Langille had eight ground balls, three assists and a goal while
Tom Piotrowski had six caused turnovers and five ground balls.
Kyle TwoBulls made five saves to pick up the win in the cage.
The Saints jumped all over the Warriors in the first quarter as they got out to a 3-0 lead by the 5:52 mark.
Louis Czech made it a 3-1 game just over two minutes but the visitors answered with a goal at the 2:21 mark and added two more goals in the first five minutes of the second to extend their lead to 6-1.
Bodley scored his first goal with 9:13 to play in the second while Ryan scored with 3:29 and 14 seconds to go in the period to cut the deficit to 6-4 at the break as the Warriors started to improve their play on both ends of the field.
Ryan cut the deficit to one goal at the 9:26 point of the third quarter and while the Saints answered just under three minutes later, Tech scored four times in the final five minutes of the period to go up 9-7.
Samuel Bodley scored with the Warriors down a man at the 3:17 mark while twin brother
Simeon Bodley put the hosts up 8-7 at the 1:59 mark and
Cooper Langille made it a two-goal game with 25 seconds to go in the period.
The fourth quarter was a dogfight on both sides with just 14 total shots and four shots on goal as the two teams battled to the end. The Saints cut the deficit to one with 7:22 to play following a power play, but the Orange and Black sealed the deal with a man-up goal from
Samuel Bodley with 2:39 on the clock.
Tech (10-0, 5-0 WHAC) returns to action Wednesday as they travel to Madonna University. Opening face-off is set for 4:30 p.m. from the Madonna Soccer and Lacrosse Field on the Madonna Athletic Complex.
