Warriors Outlast Pilots in Senior Night Victory

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women's lacrosse team defeated conference foe Bethel University 15-13 Wednesday evening on the team's Senior Night inside Warrior Athletic Field.
 
Faith Donally had a career-high six goals and two assists while adding four ground balls and two draw controls. Abby Barkdull added five goals, four assists, two rebound balls and two caused turnovers. Abbey Wilson had a game-high eight ground balls, six caused turnovers and three draw controls while Halli Reinhard won 12 draws to go along with five ground balls, two assists and a goal. Cece Mason mad two saves in the cage as she came on in relief of Sydney Oberdorfer in the fourth quarter to secure the win.
 
While the Pilots struck first at 13:26 in the opening quarter, Donally responded with goals at 12:54 and 12:10 to put the Warriors on top 2-1. Bethel came storming back with two goals in the final four minutes of the second quarter to cut the deficit to 4-3 at the break.
 
The third quarter saw a scoring outburst with the Pilots scoring eight times while the Warriors found the back of the cage five times. The visitors too the lead at 10:49 following a goal from Isabell Gerbrand while Hope Tempelman scored all four of her goals in the period.
 
Bethel continued to hold a slim lead at the start of the fourth, holding a 12-10 advantage at the 10:28 mark, but Barkdull scored three times from the 9:32 to 8:12 mark to put the Warriors up 13-12 and forcing the Pilots to call a timeout. Donally made it a two-goal game with 5:15 on the clock and while the Pilots cut the deficit to one with 2:32 remaining in the game, the Warrior defense did not allow the Pilots to get off a single shot while Wilson added an insurance goal at the 39-second mark to seal the game.'
 
Tech (5-4, 4-2 WHAC) returns to action Saturday as they head to No. 1-ranked Lawrence Tech for a conference showdown. Opening draw is set for 2 p.m. from Blue Devils Stadium.
