DEARBORN, Mich – The Warrior women's volleyball team traveled to Dearborn, Michigan, Friday night to take on the University of Michigan-Dearborn. Tech has started the
Matt Fishman era undefeated and looked to continue their perfect run tonight.
UofM-Dearborn jumped out to an early lead on the night, winning the first two sets 25-15 and 25-19. The Wolverines capitalized on Tech's poor attacking performance in the first two sets, with the Warriors posting an attack percentage of -.034 in set one and .056 in set two. The Warriors turned things around in the final three sets improving their attacking rates to .234, .163, and .250 to help secure wins in those sets, 26-24, 25-23, and 15-11. The Warriors add another game to the win column moving them to 15-0 for the season and 3-0 in conference competition.
Emma Westra led tech's attack tonight with fourteen kills, while
Noelle VanOort and
Taylor Paul contributed thirteen and eleven kills to the victory.
Noelle VanOort added two service aces to her season total, and
Andrea Schriver and
Kelsey Schaldenbrand both served one.
Taylor Sorg sent back four blocks, and Westra and Brawley had three. Schriver posted a team-high 25 assists on the night, and
Jacey Blust added 29 digs.
Indiana Tech continues its road stretch tomorrow, September 17, heading to Livonia, Michigan, to take on Madonna University. The last matchup between the two schools was October 29, 2021, when Madonna took a 3-2 win in Fort Wayne. Madonna currently leads the series between the two schools 29-11.
