UPLAND, Ind. – Men's soccer traveled to Upland, Indiana Saturday to take on the Trojans of Taylor University (2-4-3) at Turner Stadium. The Warriors (2-1-3) took control of the game early.
Luke Jones scored his second goal of the season in the 33
rd minute of the game, coming from a free kick that found the top corner. This would prove to be all Tech needed to claim the win over Taylor as the game concluded in 1-0 fashion.
Jones' goal was one of sixteen shots Tech recorded in the first half, outshooting Taylor, who posted two first-half shots. Tech went into the break with a 1-0 lead and did what it took to maintain that in the second half despite Taylor's efforts. Taylor recorded seven second-half shots as opposed to the Warrior's six.
Jaume Salvado played the whole ninety minutes between the sticks posting three saves, the most crucial coming in the 67
th minute, to claim another shutout on the season. Today's win brings the total season shutouts to four.
The Warriors host Lawerence Tech Saturday, September 24, at 7 P.M., playing at the Warrior Athletic Field for their next match. The last meeting between the two schools resulted in a 1-1 draw on October 30, 2021, when they played in Southfield, Michigan.
