Warriors Close Season-Opening Road Swing With 3-0 Loss, Look Forward to Home Debut

CRESTVIEW HEIGHTS, Ky. -- The Indiana Tech women's soccer team closed its five-match, season-opening road swing with a 3-0 loss at Thomas More University (5-0-2), which is in its final season of NAIA competition before initiating the transition to NCAA Division II in 2023-24. TMU scored all three of its goals in the opening 20 minutes and kept the Warriors (1-3-1) at bay for the final 70 minutes.

The Saints out-shot Tech 18-3 on the night, though the Warriors tightened up in the second half. The Orange and Black only allowed six attempts after the halftime break and continue to show signs of growth heading in to the 2022 Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference schedule, which opens next week.

"This was a tough match, as we came out flat, had difficulty adjusting to their direct style of play, and struggled to win balls in the air," Tech head coach Andrea Gorton said. "Everyone came in to halftime ready to re-focus and we played the second half with good spirit and were much more organized. Overall, this was a positive step in our overall development and growth as a program."

Sydney Lang filled in for the injured Michaela Bitle in goal for the second straight match and recorded three saves on the evening. Danielle Dunn was the most lively IT attacker, attempting all three of the Warrior shots over 90 minutes.

The Warriors play at home for the first time this season on Tuesday, Sept. 20, in a 7 PM kickoff against Goshen College, which is the first of three-straight games at Tech's turf field.
