FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The women's soccer team took the field Saturday, taking on the visiting Lawrence Tech University Blue Devils. The Warriors were looking to get their second straight win in the first conference competition of the season.
The start of the first half favored the Warriors. They were stringing together passes through the midfield which left the opposition out of position resulting in their biggest opportunity of the first half when
Jordan Brown-Mundey played a through ball to
Danielle Dunn putting her through on goal for a shot on goal that Lawrence Tech goalkeeper saved in the 4
th minute. A few tactical subs by the Blue Devils shifted the tides for the last twenty of the first half. LTU ended the first half outshooting Tech 7-2.
Early pressure from the Blue Devils resulted in a goal in the 48
th minute from Jenny Dear, assisted by Bridget Finneran. The Warriors were able to build through the midfield and play a ball to
Kate Wallace on the right wing, who found
Danielle Dunn in the middle of the box. Dunn took a touch around the keeper and found the back of the net for a goal to put the Warriors back level with Lawrence Tech. The Warriors finished the game with 7 shots.
Michaela Bitle went the full ninety minutes in net a recorded eight saves.
The Warriors are back on the pitch Wednesday, September 28, when they host the Cardinals of Concordia University. Tech fell 1-2 in their last meeting on October 20, 2021.
