UNIVERSITY PARK, Ill. – Indiana Tech women's soccer rode two first-half goals to down Governor's State University 2-0 on the road Wednesday afternoon. The win evens the Warriors' record at 1-1 for the young season and is the first of Andrea Gorton's career as Tech's head coach.

Tech opened its goal-scoring account for 2022 through Danielle Dunn in the 21^st minute. The redshirt sophomore took a cross from classmate Alyssa Williams and scored eight yards out from Gaby Smola's goal.
The visitors doubled their lead in the 38^th minute, this time on an unassisted 18-yard effort from graduate student Rebecca Delgado Campins. The Majorca, Spain, native's goal capped a sold first-half effort that saw the Orange and Black outshoot GSU 9-5 and force Smola to make two saves. Redshirt sophomore Michaela Bitle stopped the only Jaguar shot that found its way on target – a 33^rd minute attempt from Grace McLaughlin.

Tech came out of the halftime break on a tear, forcing two more Smola saves in the first five minutes on shots from Alina Garcia and AnnaBella Kowalczyk. The assault on the Jaguar goal continued in the 56^th minute with a Dani Blagojevic shot that produced yet another Smola save.

Governor's State came to life in the 62^nd, with Princess Magadan's initial effort leading to a corner kick. Bitle saved Emely Oviedo's strike off of the set-piece routine and then saw two more GSU attempts go high in the 63^rd and 65^th minutes.

Stoppages for substitutions and fouls were the story of the final 15 minutes, as Tech looked to kill off the game and GSU (0-1) searched for a way back from the deficit. Tech maintained an 18-12 advantage in shots for the game while each team earned three corner kicks. Bitle claimed the clean sheet with four saves.

Indiana Tech continues its five-match road swing to start the season at Bethel University (Ind.) on Saturday, Sept. 10. The 7 PM match kicks off in Mishawaka, Ind., on BU's Morey Field. Tech and the Pilots each own three victories in the series, with the Warriors on a three-match win streak, including a 2-1 triumph on Sept. 11, 2021, in Ft. Wayne. Blagojevic netted the overtime game-winner in that contest a year ago.
