FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- Indiana Tech overcame a relatively sluggish offensive showing to earn a 61-47 home win over Lawrence Tech Saturday. The win moves to 17-3 and 10-2 in the Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference, maintaining a 1.5 lead atop the standings over Madonna, Lourdes, and Rochester.
Rog Stein hit 7-10 shots and connected on 2-3 from the charity stripe en route to 16 points. Overall, the Warriors labored to a 36% effort from the field over 40 minutes, shooting just 15% from deep. On the flip side, however, Tech locked in defensively, holding LTU to 29% shooting and its second-worst scoring output of the season, just two points better than in its 55-45 loss to Rochester University in late November.
Josh Kline was the only other Warrior to reach double digits with 10 points. Corey McKinney hauled in seven boards from his guard position and dished four assists to lead the team.
Andrew Rinn scored 12 points to lead the visitors while Gunnar Gustafson finished with a game-high 15 caroms.Â
Tech visits Cornerstone University Wednesday evening in another crucial WHAC clash. Tech owns a modest two-game win streak, and has won six of the last ten contests in the all-time series with CU, but is just 2-19 in its last 21 trips to Mol Arena.
