SYLVANIA, Ohio – The Indiana Tech women's volleyball team traveled to Sylvania, Ohio, on Wednesday evening to face off against the Lourdes University Gray Wolves, where Tech proved to be too much for the Gray Wolves, winning in three straight sets 25-19, 25-22, 25-23. The Warriors improved to 23-3 on the season and 13-1 in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference competitions.
The Orange and Black started slow in the first set as they saw the Gray Wolves jump to an early 5-0 lead, but the sluggish start didn't last long. Trailing 9-11, the Warriors went on an 8-0 run highlighted by
Emma Westra with a kill,
Taylor Paul with 4 kills, and
Andrea Schriver with a kill and 2 service aces. The lead was too much for Lourdes to overcome as Tech took the first set. In set two, the Warriors took an early 4-1 lead, but a 7-0 run from Lourdes doubled Tech's tally, giving them an 8-4 advantage. Tech immediately responded with a 4-0 run to bring the game level. A few runs of 3 and 4 kept the Warriors ahead for the remainder of the set as they went up 2-0 with a 25-22 win. Set four was a back-and-forth affair, with neither team able to grab the upper hand. With the game tied at 23, the Gray Wolves had a costly service error, giving Tech a one-point advantage, and they capitalized with a kill from
Taylor Paul to end the match.
Tech is back in action this weekend as they host Aquinas College on Friday evening. The Warriors swept the previous meeting with Aquinas this season and look to do the same again with the first serve set for 7:00 p.m.
