Warriors Fly Past Golden Eagles on Their Way to Third Straight Win

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Indiana Tech men's soccer team picked up their third straight conference win on Saturday evening with a 2-1 late winner over the Cornerstone University.

The Warriors have been rolling since the start of conference play, going undefeated through the first five games, currently sitting in third place in the WHAC. After two straight wins, defeating their opponents 9-1 over that span, confidence was at an all-time high heading into their game at Cornerstone. Christos Philippou scored his second goal of the season, just under eight minutes into the contest to put the Warriors in the driver's seat early. Tech would outshoot Cornerstone five to two in the first half as they led 1-0 at the break. The Golden Eagles would claw back into the game with a goal in the 68th minute to level it at one. However, the Warriors would keep fighting until the very end when Luke Jones would score off a Ryan Steele cutback pass to the top of the box in the 85th minute of the game to seal the win for the Orange & Black. The goal is Jones' third in the last two games and fifth of conference play, while Steele has now picked up a goal or assist in each of the last three matches. David Martinez made one save in the win for the Warriors.

Indiana Tech now moves to 3-0-2 in conference play and 4-3-4 on the season. The Warriors will host Lourdes University on Wednesday, October 11th at 7:00pm.
