Foy’s Double-Double Leads Warriors as They Cruise Past Cougars

LANSING, Mich. – The Indiana Tech women's basketball team traveled to Lansing, Michigan, on Tuesday night to take on Cleary University. In the first-ever meeting between the two schools, the Warriors came out on top, winning in dominant fashion, 68-48. The Orange and Black improved to 5-1 on the season and remain unbeaten in the WHAC at 3-0.

Cleary opened the game by getting to the free throw line just 24 seconds into the game, knocking down one of the two shots. Erika Foy responded with a jumper to get her night started. It was a tough battle through the remainder of the first quarter, with little separating the two teams. After stretching their lead to 5 with 5:28 left in the quarter, the Cougars battled back as Tech entered the second quarter leading 16-15. The Warriors came alive in the second quarter on both ends of the floor, limiting the Cougar offense to 10 points, while Taylor Covington scored 9 of the Warriors' 23 points, knocking down 3 threes as Tech took a 14-point lead into the halftime break. Out of the halftime break, the Orange and Black kept things rolling, putting up another 20 points, with Foy and Juliana Burris combining for half of those. Heading into the final quarter, the Warriors held a 20-point lead and maintained their lead, winning 68-48.

Erika Foy led the Warriors, recording her second straight double-double with 22 points, 17 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 blocks, and 2 steals. Taylor Covington scored 12 points, all coming from behind the three-point line while grabbing 6 rebounds and dishing out 5 assists. Genevieve Decker also posted double figures with 11 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists.

The Warriors are back in action on November 29th as they host WHAC foe, Lawrence Tech. The game is scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m. in the Schaefer Center.
