Strong Second Half Lifts Warriors Past Blue Devils

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women's basketball team returned to action on Wednesday evening, hosting conference foe Lawrence Tech. The Orange and Black kept their perfect start to the conference rolling as they downed the Blue Devils 78-53 in a dominant win. Tech improves to 6-1 on the season and 4-0 in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play.

The Blue Devils started things in the first quarter, scoring the games opening 4 points. The Warriors responded with a 10-2 run to take their first lead of the game but couldn't separate from the Blue Devils, as the two teams were locked at 16, ending the first quarter. The second quarter unfolded in a similar fashion to the first. The Blue Devils took a 6-point lead, but the defensive effort from the Warriors didn't allow them to stretch that lead, and Tech got back in the game, taking a 30-28 lead into the halftime break. Out of the break, the Warriors upped the defensive intensity while their offense found its rhythm, leading to the Orange and Black outscoring the Blue Devils 22-11 in the third quarter to extend their lead. The Warriors kept their intensity in the final quarter as they outscored Lawrence Tech 26-14 on their way to securing the 78-53 win.

Erika Foy led the Warriors, recording her third straight double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Entering the game, Foy was 8 rebounds short of 1,000 career rebounds, and with her 12 rebounds, she surpassed the 1,000 mark. Genevieve Decker and Juliana Burris were the other Warrior starters to score in double-figures with 13 and 11, respectively. Decker added 8 rebounds and 4 assists, while Burris contributed 4 and 3. In her first game back from injury, Bethany Worm was a spark off the bench for Tech, scoring 17 points with 4 rebounds and 3 assists.

Next up for the Warriors is a trip to Grand Rapids, Michigan, to take on Aquinas College on Saturday, December 2. Tip-off against the Saints is set for 1:00 p.m.
