FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech men's soccer team advanced through to the semifinal of the WHAC Tournament with a win over Cornerstone University on Saturday afternoon.
The Warriors quest for a fifth straight WHAC Tournament Title began with a 3-0 win over the Golden Eagles in a game that Tech would dominate from start to finish. The Orange & Black would put the pressure on Cornerstone early outshooting them eight to four in the first half. After a few close chances and a shot off the post by
Luke Jones, the Warriors would finally find the back of the net with just 28 seconds left in the first half when
Ryan Steele volleyed home a shot into the top corner to put Tech in the driver's seat up 1-0. In the second half, the Warriors would waste no time as graduate student
Marc Junca would make a brilliant solo run beating four defenders in total and curling the ball into the top left corner to put Tech ahead 2-0 in the first minute of the half. The Warriors would continue to attack the Golden Eagles with 14 more shots in the second half including one of the post and another off the crossbar.
Warren Moss would add a third goal for the Warriors to finish off Cornerstone 3-0.
Lucca Motta would pick up two assists in the match to add to his team high six assists this season.
David Martinez would pick up the win and clean sheet in goal for the Warriors, making three saves.
Tech, being the #2 seed in the tournament, will now host the winner of #3 Madonna vs #6 Lawrence Tech on Wednesday, November 8
th at Warrior Athletic Field.
