ADRIAN, Mich. – The Indiana Tech men's basketball team traveled to Adrian, Michigan, over the weekend to take on the Saints of Siena Heights University in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference matchup. The Orange and Black performance was dominant as they downed the Saints 79-34. Tech improves to 6-5 on the season and remains with just one loss in the conference at 5-1.
The Orange and Black got off to a quick start as
Max Perez had the game-opening bucket, which started a 16-1 run for the Warriors through the opening five minutes. Through the remaining fifteen minutes, the Warriors kept their defensive intensity high, holding the Saints to 26.9% shooting, which allowed their offense to stretch their lead.
Javel Lewis led the Warrior in the first half, scoring 15 points as Tech took a 23-point lead into the break. The second half was all Warriors, as they maintained their defensive pressure, which only allowed the Saints to make four baskets from the field. Tech outscored Siena Heights 34-12 in the second half, led by
Crew Gibson with 9 points. The Warriors shot 48.2% from the field and 86.4% from the free-throw line.
Eleven Warriors saw the floor in the win, with every player scoring at least 2 points. They were led by Javal Lewis with 18 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 assists.
Max Perez had 11 points with 4 rebounds and 2 assists.
Lucas Lyyski posted 10 points, 6 rebounds, and 1 assist.
The Warriors are back in action on Wednesday, December 20, traveling to Rio Grande, Ohio, to battle with the University of Rio Grande. Tip-off against the RedStorm is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
