Seniors Lead Warriors to the Win

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The No. 16 ranked Indiana Tech Warriors traveled to play against Aquinas College on Saturday and relied on the performances of their seniors Erika Foy and Kyra Whitaker to bring a 57-50 win home.

Foy and Whitaker stepped up in a tight game to grab the win for the Warriors. Foy scored 20 points, grabbed 5 rebounds, and added 2 assists, shooting 73% from the field and 100% from the free throw line. Whitaker scored 22 points and grabbed 2 rebounds, scoring 11 of her 22 points in the game's last quarter.

Aquinas left the first quarter with a lead of 16-15, but the Warriors bounced back in the second quarter to reach halftime winning by 33-28. In the third quarter, both teams had low accuracy on their attempts to score, and everything would be decided in the fourth quarter, which started with Indiana Tech leading 38-32.

Aquinas started the last period cutting the Warriors' advantage on the scoreboard to four points and even tied the game with 6:25 on the clock with a 3-point shot from Eliza Brown. But the fourth quarter had a name: Kyra Whitaker. The senior replied every time Aquinas crept closer to winning the game with her long-range shots, leading Indiana Tech to the win.

With the win, Indiana Tech (22-4) keeps its claim to the first position in the conference. It prepares to face the University of Michigan-Dearborn next Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the Schaefer Center.
