FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- The Warriors finished the regular season with a convincing two game thrashing over their rival Warriors of Rochester University. Game one was played Friday night on the road where Indiana Tech won 5-0. In the win, the orange and black had four different goal scorers, courtesy of
Cam Chabot (2),
Matej Krasny,
Avery Smith, and
Colton Nikiforuk.
Ty Barnhill had the shutout win for the Warriors.
Tech stayed hot in game two Saturday evening, riding the five-goal performance from the night before with sixteen more goals in the 16-0 win on senior night. Smith got on the scoring sheet again Saturday with four more goals bringing his total to 21 on the season.
Mitchell Forton,
Jacob Gibson, and
Connor Funke also had multi-goal games for the Warriors with two apiece.
Braedyn Funke and the Tech defense put on a show only surrendering nine shots all game in route to another shutout victory. Saturday also marked senior day for the Warriors, where the likes of
Axel Low,
Cole Barney,
Fabian Granqvist,
Cam Chabot, and
Jacob Gibson were all recognized.
Indiana Tech will host the WHAC Tournament at the SportONE Icehouse in Fort Wayne, Indiana, next weekend, February 24-26. After winning the WHAC regular season championship, the Warriors will be the #1 seed in the postseason tournament, where they will look to go for a third straight tournament championship to go along with their three-peat in the regular season.
