FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Indiana Tech's women's lacrosse team kicked off their 2023 regular season campaign late Sunday morning. The Warriors faced off against Georgetown College, winning the contest by a score of 18-9.
The first quarter of the game was pretty evenly matched as both sides were feeling each other out. Georgetown struck the back of the net first with a goal three minutes into the game, before Tech answered back quickly, with a goal from
Faith Donally a minute later. Back and forth the sides went, leveling it at three goals apiece before the Warriors added two late goals to take a 5-3 lead after one quarter of play. In the second quarter, it was all Indiana Tech. The Warriors outscored the visiting Tigers 8-0 in the quarter, with three goals from freshman,
Da'zah Regusters, to build the Tech lead to ten at the half. The Warriors would go on to score five more goals in the second half to solidify the win with a final score of 18-9.
Donally led the way for the Warriors in the win racking up nine total points (six goals, three assists).
Abbey Wilson put in six Warrior goals and one assist to finish with seven points on the day, while
Halli Reinhard and
Brooke Buhr each ended with five points.
Sydney Oberdorfer was stellar in goal for Indiana Tech, making eight saves in the win.
Next up for the Warriors is the first of three straight away from home as they travel to St. Louis, Missouri to take on Missouri Baptist University on Saturday, March 11 at 7 pm.
