FORT WAYNE, Ind. – On Tuesday, Indiana Tech men's lacrosse team battled against the Patriots of the University of Cumberlands (Ky.) in a top five matchup that would have big implications on the NAIA top ten rankings, as a win would tremendously improve the victor's value moving forward this season.
The No. 2 ranked Warriors got off to a great start in the game, scoring two goals in the first three minutes. After conceding a goal, Tech would go on to score four more in the period to take a 6-1 lead after one quarter of play, with
Cooper Langille leading the Warriors with two goals. The second quarter was more evenly matched as the No. 4 ranked Patriots were able to keep pace with the Warriors as both teams scored twice in the quarter, as Tech took an 8-3 lead into the half. After some stellar defense in third, the score remained 8-3 until the fourth quarter. Then the Warriors would score three straight goals in three minutes to open the fourth, behind two goals from
Aran Heath and one from
Devin Macomber, to take a commanding 11-3 lead. Cumberlands would try to mount a comeback, scoring three goals to reduce the deficit to five, but it would not be enough as the Warriors would hold on to win 11-6. Heath and Bramley led the way for the Warriors with four points apiece, each scoring and assisting twice.
Sam Anderson and
Tom Piotrowski led the way defensively for the Warriors posting six and five caused turnovers, respectively.
Kyle TwoBulls would make eight saves in the win for the Warriors.
On Saturday, March 18
th at 1 PM, the Warriors will host Ottawa University (Kan.) who is receiving votes in the Coaches' Top 10 Poll.
