Warrior Softball Gets Another Win on Day 4 of Space Coast Games

MELBOURNE, Flo. – Day four of the Space Coast games down in Melbourne, Florida saw the Warriors pick up another win on their way to a 7-1 record through the first four days of the games, with one day still to go.

In game one of the day, the Warriors fell to Indiana University at South Bend 8-11 to snap their 12 game winning streak. Tech started the game riding their momentum of their winning streak, scoring five runs in the first inning as the team would hit for the cycle in the inning. Kennedi Sullivan had an RBI single, Karra Leeger-Capraro had an RBI double, Katie O'Drobinak had an RBI triple, and Bella Brock had a two RBI homerun in the inning. However, after that the Warriors would cool off, not scoring again until the final inning. The Warriors still led 5-1 through four innings before giving up ten runs between the fifth and sixth innings. Tech trailed 5-11 heading into the final inning where they were able to claw back three runs, but it was too little too late, as the Warriors fell by a final of 8-11. Brock led the Warriors with three hits and three RBIs in the game, while Jayme Koning picked up the loss.

Indiana Tech would bounce back in game two with a monster performance, blowing out Indiana University Purdue University at Columbus, in five innings, 12-0. Madisyn Miller pitched another complete game shutout in just her second career start. She had very similar numbers against IUPUC as she did in the game she pitched earlier this week against Montreat College (N.C), giving up just three hits and no runs in both games. Tech's offense came from all around as eight different Warriors picked up at least one RBI. Jordan Dippel, Lundyn Santos, Kaelie Kugler, and O'Drobinak led the team with two RBIs apiece, while Carlye Walter, Meagan Barton, Ella Cochenour, and Brock each had one. Dippel and Walter led the team with two hits apiece with Dippel scoring one run for the Warriors and Walter scoring two.

Indiana Tech will wrap up their spring break trip on Thursday morning against Missouri Baptist University at 9 am and Florida National University at 11:30 am.
