Warriors Wrap-up Spring Break Trip with 8-2 Record at Space Coast Games

MELBOURNE, Flo. – On Thursday, Indiana Tech wrapped up its spring break trip to Florida with the final two games of the five day, ten game trip. The Warriors played Missouri Baptist University in game one of the day and Florida National University to close out the day.

In game one against the Spartans, the Warriors lost a tight one 2-1. Missouri Baptist got on the board first with a run in the top of the third to take the 1-0 lead. Tech would answer with a run of their own in the bottom of the third on a double steal attempt that saw Katie O'Drobinak as a decoy, letting Alyssa Fox come home to tie the game at one. The game would remain 1-1 until the top of the sixth when Missouri Baptist got a run, off an RBI single to give them the 2-1 lead. The Warriors had shots to tie it in the bottom of the sixth and seventh innings but couldn't find the answer. Savannah Bravo pitched all seven innings for the Warriors, throwing five strikeouts and giving up just five hits and two runs in the game, but it wasn't enough as the Warriors fell 2-1.

In game two, the Warriors bounced back from the earlier loss with a 4-3 victory against Florida National. It didn't come easy though, as the Warriors had to come from behind in the one. After trailing 3-0 through the first inning, Tech started to find momentum in the third when they scored two runs to bring the game within one. The Warriors would score again in the bottom of the sixth inning to tie the game at three, before winning on a walk-off in the bottom of the seventh. Bella Brock led the Warriors with two hits and three RBIs in the win, while Kiersten Delaney also added an RBI. Carlye Walter earned the win, pitching all seven innings and picking up two strikeouts for the Warriors.

Indiana Tech wraps up their trip to the Space Coast Games with an 8-2 record over the five-day event. This puts the Warriors at 20-4 overall on the season as they will head home and prepare for their WHAC opener doubleheader against the University of Northwestern Ohio next Friday, March 24th at 2 and 4 pm.
