Men’s Lax Knocks Off No. 1 in Battle of Nation’s Best

WALESKA, Ga. – After knocking off No. 5 ranked St. Ambrose University just over a week ago, the No. 2 ranked Indiana Tech men's lacrosse team had two more top ten matchups this weekend down in Waleska, Georgia as they went up against No. 6 ranked Keiser University on Saturday and No. 1 ranked Reinhardt University on Sunday.

On Saturday, the No. 2 ranked Warriors of Indiana Tech took on the No. 6 ranked Seahawks of Keiser University in a thrilling clash of top ten heavyweights. Keiser got on the board first, but Tech would get two goals in the first quarter to take a 2-1 lead. Both teams would score twice in the second quarter, giving Indiana Tech a 4-3 lead at the half. Tech's offensive got going in the third quarter with Nate Langille and Reagan Finney each scoring their second goals of the day in the quarter, while Aran Heath and Samuel Bodley each also added a goal for the Warriors, giving them an 8-6 lead after three quarters of play. Defense took over in the fourth with no goals through the first 13 minutes of the quarter when Keiser scored with just under two minutes left to cut the Warriors lead to one. The Seahawks would go on to score two more goals in the final minute of the game to sneak away with the 9-8 win. Kyle TwoBulls made five saves in goal for the Warriors in the loss.

On Sunday, the Warriors would look to bounce back in a big way as the top two teams in the country prepared to face off against one another. The Warriors have had a bitter taste in their mouth from the last time couple times they played No. 1 ranked Eagles of Reinhardt University. The Warriors have lost in the National Championship game the past two seasons to Reinhardt, who has won five straight National Championships. Indiana Tech used that fuel and set the place on fire, lighting up the defending national champs. The two teams would trade goals back in forth in the first quarter, ending it at 3-3. Then Khanan Bodley scored his second goal of the game four minutes into the second quarter and the Warriors wouldn't look back again, as they led 6-4 at the half. Heath led the Warriors in the second half scoring four goals to propel Indiana Tech to a 12-7 upset. Devin Macomber had a hattrick for Tech, while TwoBulls made four saves in the win.

Indiana Tech will look to ride this momentum into the coming weeks as the schedule is not getting much easier. The Warriors will wrapup their tough nonconference schedule be at home with three more top teams coming up. First the Warriors will play No. 9 ranked Benedictine College (Kan.) on Thursday, March 9th at 5 pm.
