Tech Softball Wins Again and Again, Extends Programs Best Start

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech softball team continued their record-breaking start Sunday afternoon with another pair of wins. The Warriors took part in a three-team event on Sunday that saw every team play two games each. The Warriors played Viterbo University in game one of the day, winning 3-2 to add to their two wins over the visiting V-Hawks from Saturday. Game two saw visiting IUPUC beat Viterbo 4-3. In game three, the Warriors beat IUPUC 5-3 to wrap up the weekend with a 4-0 record, moving to 10-2 on the year, extending their best start in program history.

Defense was the theme of the day with three low scoring, competitive games. In game one, the Warriors went up against Viterbo University and got on the board when they loaded the bases in the bottom of the second inning, where Alexis Galloway drove in the game's first run. Tech would add a second in the third inning before Viterbo would counter with a run in the fourth and another in the top of the seventh to tie the game at two. In the bottom of the seventh, with two outs, Bella Brock singled to give the Warriors a shot to win it. Then Alyssa Fox hit a single to left field that saw Brock come all the way home after an error from the left fielder for the game winning run. Carlye Walter pitched a complete game for the Warriors, striking out six batters, giving up five hits and two runs. The win, to go along with the two from yesterday completed the three-game sweep for the Warriors over the visiting V-Hawks.

In the third game of the day, Indiana Tech played IUPUC, where the game was scoreless through the first three innings. Tech would get on the board thanks to a solo shot from Katie O'Drobinak in the bottom of the fourth inning. The Warriors would add another in the fifth after an RBI single from Meagan Barton saw Meghan Berlin score. IUPUC would get a run back in the top of the sixth to make it 2-1, but the Warriors would add some insurance runs in the bottom half of the inning to build their lead to 5-1. The visiting Crimson Pride would try to mount a comeback in the seventh, but the two runs wouldn't be enough as the Warriors held on for the 5-3 victory. Savannah Bravo pitched a complete game for the Warriors and earned her fourth win of the season. She had seven strikeouts, giving up five hits and three runs.

The Warriors will look to continue their winning ways as the go on the road for the first time this season in a doubleheader against Taylor University on Monday, March 6th at 3 and 5 pm in Upland, Indiana.
