Fort Wayne, Ind. – Hosting the First and Second Rounds of the NAIA National Championship, Presented by Ballogy, the Indiana Tech women's basketball team reigned in the 4
th quarter against Bryan College and advanced to the Second Round of the NAIA Nationals Tournament, winning 63-48 on Tuesday night at Schaefer Center.
In a close game that neither side could open an advantage bigger than 7 points in the first 3 quarters, Indiana Tech counted on
Erika Foy,
Genevieve Decker,
Kyra Whitaker, and a powerful 4
th quarter to earn a 15-point win and a spot in the next round.
Foy registered another double-double, her 17th of the season, scoring 20 points, grabbing 14 rebounds, and blocking 4 shots. Decker flirted with the double-double, scoring 14 points and grabbing 9 rebounds, while Whitaker added 14 points for Indiana Tech.
After 3 quarters of balance, the teams arrived at the last quarter with Indiana Tech winning by 47-44, and in the 4
th quarter, the Warriors reigned supreme on the court. Led by Foy (6 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 blocks in the 4
th quarter) and Decker (7 points and 7 rebounds in the 4
th quarter), the Warriors won the period 16-4 and finished the game with less stress than expected after the three first quarters.
With the win, Indiana Tech eliminated Bryan College and advanced to the Second Round of the NAIA Nationals Tournament. Tomorrow (March 8), Indiana Tech Will face Briar Cliff University looking for a spot at the final site of the NAIA Nationals Tournament.
