GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Tech baseball team finished their weekend with a trip to Grand Rapids, Michigan, for a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference doubleheader with the Cornerstone University Golden Eagles, where the Orange and Black came out on top, winning both games 2-1 and 6-5. The Warriors improve to 20-9 overall and 8-6 within the WHAC.
Game one was a pitching battle with
Zach Zaborowski going the distance on the mound for Tech, allowing 7 hits and 1 run while striking out 10 batters.
Jayden Reed,
Tyler Stahl,
Christian Mojica,
Brice Stultz,
Carson McNulty, and
Parker Bates each recorded one hit apiece for Tech as Bates drove in two runs and went yard in the fourth inning for what would end up being the game-winning run.
Tyler Stahl had the hot bat in game two for Tech going 3 for 4 at the dish with a pair of doubles to record 3 RBIs, while Reed,
Jacob Daftari, Stultz, McNulty, Trever Patterson,
AJ Dull, and
Alex Smith each had 1 hit.
Luke Myers was credited with the win throwing 3.2 innings while giving up 6 hits, 4 runs (3 earned), and striking out 2, while
Spencer Strobel earned the save.
Tech hosts IU Kokomo for a doubleheader in their next contest on Tuesday evening. Game one starts at 4 PM.
