Tech Takes Down Saints

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Warrior Softball team hosted Siena Heights on Saturday morning for a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference doubleheader as the Orange and Black looked to stay perfect in conference play. Tech did just that as they took both from the Saints with scores of 6-4 and 11-3 (F/5). The Warriors move to 30-4 overall and sit on top of the WHAC with a 10-0 record.
 
Tech started game one hot as Katie O'Drobinak hit a two-run shot in the bottom of the first inning to put the Warriors up 2-0 after the first. O'Drobinak came up big in the bottom of the sixth with a 2 RBI double to give Tech a 6-4 lead they wouldn't surrender, shutting down the Saints in the top of the seventh for the win. Jordan Dippel went a perfect 3 for 3 at the plate with 1 RBI and scored 1 run. Jayme Koning got the win as she threw 4.2 innings allowing 0 hits and 0 runs while striking out 6.
 
The Orange and Black were hot once again to start game two as they scored 3 runs in the bottom of the first to jump out to a 3-1 lead. Tech widened their lead in the bottom of the fourth as they scored 5 runs to take an 8-3 lead before finishing the game in the bottom of the fifth with 3 more runs for the 11-3 win. O'Drobinak's big day at the plate continued as she led Tech in RBIs again with 2. Karra Leeger-Capraro and Allie Forster each were 1.000 at the plate, going 2 for 2 and 3 for 3, respectively. Carlye Walter threw the complete 5 innings allowing 3 runs (2 earned) on 4 hits while recording 3 strikeouts.
 
On Saturday, the Warriors travel the Grand Rapids to take on Cornerstone University in a conference doubleheader. The first game is set to start at noon.
