KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Another school record by middle distance star
Lisa Voyles highlighted a busy weekend of track and field action for Indiana Tech. Competing at the Tennessee Invitational in Knoxville, Voyles rubbed shoulders with a top NCAA Division I field on Friday and knocked two seconds off her own record in the 1500 meters, finishing in 4:27.83. Voyles' mark puts her 2nd in the nation and earns her a second NAIA "A" standard of the young outdoor season.
With half the squad heading down to the University of Tennessee and the other half staying behind to host the Good Friday Invitational, nearly the entire team was in action between Friday and Saturday.
Additional Highlights:
- Jayden Tillman moved all the way up to #3 all-time in the javelin throw with a mark of 46.05m.
- Kayla Moody hit an NAIA "B" mark in the 400 meters in a PR of 57.34 at the home meet. Moody also PR'd in the 200 meters in 25.16.
- Parrish Smith won the 100 meters at the home meet in 10.77.
- Noah Schultz and Victor Rodriguez each captured outdoor PR's in the pole vault at 4.50m.
- Jamaya Warthen earned an NAIA "B" mark in the 200 meters at Tennessee in a PR of 24.68. She's just .03 off the "A" standard.
- Warthen also scored a "B" standard in the 100 meters at 11.99
- Michael Warner PR'd in the 200 meters at 21.57 in Tennessee.
- Noah Kelsey moved into the #10 spot on the all-time list in the 1500m at 4:08.40.
- Collins Mokuah earned an "A" standard in the 110h in 14.60.
- Lisa Voyles followed up her 1500 with an "A" standard in the 800 meters in 2:10.62.
Next up for the Warriors is a trip down I-69 to Muncie to compete this weeked in the We Fly Challenge at Ball State.
