FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women's lacrosse team hosted the Saint Ambrose University Fighting Bees on Monday afternoon. Both teams entered the contest with 4-4 records and are both currently receiving votes in the latest NAIA Women's Lacrosse Coaches' Top 10 Poll. However, the game was not as close as what the stats suggested, as the Warriors would sting the visiting Bees 22-9.
Indiana Tech scored the first three goals of the game and led 6-2 at the end of the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Warriors offense would explode for eight more goals, with
Abbey Wilson scoring a hattrick in the quarter, giving Tech a 14-5 lead at the half. The orange and black would continue to roll in the second half as they outscored Saint Ambrose 8-4, finishing with a total of 22 goals on the day, their highest total of the season.
Faith Donally and Wilson led the Tech offense with nine and eight points respectively. Both Warriors would score five goals in the game, with Donally adding four assists and Wilson adding three, while Wilson would also lead the team with seven draw controls.
Brooke Buhr added five goals for the Warriors.
Da'zah Regusters led the team in ground balls with four and
Halli Reinhard led Tech with three caused turnovers.
Sydney Oberdorfer picked up the win for Indiana Tech, making seven saves through the first three quarters, while
Abigail Magda made four saves in the fourth quarter.
The Warriors now sit at 5-4 overall and will travel to Rochester University (Mich.) on Wednesday, April 5
th at 5 pm.
