Warriors Men’s Lacrosse Two Wins Away from National Championship

Box Score PENSACOLA, Fla. – The No. 2 ranked Indiana Tech men's lacrosse team opened up the 2023 NAIA National Tournament with a dominant 19-6 victory over WHAC foe No. 7 ranked Siena Heights University (Mich.). This was the third matchup between the Warriors and Saints this season after Tech won the previous two meetings, 20-8 during a regular season matchup on April 12th and 12-10 in the WHAC Tournament semifinals.

The 19-6 Tech win in the National Tournament quarterfinal was the largest margin of victory in the three meetings against the Saints, as the Warriors made a statement from the start, scoring the first ten goals of the game, as they led 10-0 at half. Highlights from the first half of play included four goals and an assist from Samuel Bodley, a hattrick and assist from Devin Macomber, and a hattrick of goals from Josh Bramley. Siena Heights would get on the board to open the third quarter of play and cut the Tech lead to seven before the Warriors would get three straight goals back to make it ten again. Indiana Tech did not take their foot off the gas as the game winded down, as they would score six of the last eight goals in the game and go on to win 19-6. The Warriors enjoyed a full team effort in the second half scoring nine times from eight different goal scorers. Emmett Coleman picked up four assists in the second half to finish with a team high of six in the game.  Bodley led the Warriors in goals and points, with five and seven respectively. Nate Langille led the Orange and Black with six ground balls, to go along with his two goals and two assists on the day. Sam Anderson, Nick Craddock, and Ryan Morgan anchored Tech's defense with two caused turnovers apiece. Kyle TwoBulls made eight saves in net helping the Warriors earn a spot in the semifinals.

Indiana Tech will now face the No. 3 ranked University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) in the semifinal round. Another familiar matchup for the Tech, as the two teams faced off earlier this season on March 14th, with the Warriors defeating the Patriots 11-6. The two will meet again May 11th at 7 PM in the NAIA National Tournament semifinals with a spot in the championship game on the line.
