FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Warrior women's volleyball program continued their campaign on Friday evening as they played host to the University of Michigan-Dearborn. In the first of their two matchups this season, Tech controlled the run of play to take a 3-0 (25-15, 25-22, 25-19) win and move to 4-0 within the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference.
Tech started the first set with a good tempo to their play, which allowed them to jump to an early 5-1 lead. The offense didn't stop there as they continued to put pressure on the Wolverine defense via the attacking prowess of
Taylor Paul,
Noelle VanOort, and
Taylor Sorg. Starting set two, a lull in the Warrior's tempo allowed the Wolverines to stay in the set. A back-and-forth matchup stayed close until, tied at 21,
Taylor Paul gave the Warriors life with a kill off an assist from
Andrea Schriver. The momentum swing in favor of the Warriors was apparent, and UM-Dearborn gifted the Warriors another point to extend their lead due to an attacking error. Tech finished the set strong with a VanOort kill and a double block from Sorg and VanOort. In set three, with the game knotted at 8, the Warriors went on a 9-2 run to take control of the set and eventually claim the match.
The Warriors move to 14-2 on the season and wrap up the week looking for their third win in as many games tomorrow, hosting Madonna University in the Schaefer Center at 2:00 p.m. The Orange and Black split the home-and-home series last season, dropping their final meeting with the Crusaders 1-3 on Oct. 14, 2022.
