Warriors Dominate in Five Goal Rout

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech men's soccer team picked up their first conference win of the 2023 season Saturday afternoon, after drawing in their first two WHAC matches. Tech would win the battle of the Warriors, defeating Rochester University 5-0.

Indiana Tech laid the hammer down on Rochester, recording 13 shots and three goals in the first half. Lucca Motta got the scoring started for Tech, converting a penalty kick in the 12th minute of the game to give the hosts a 1-0 lead. Christos Philippou, a freshman from Nicosia, Cyprus, scored the first goal of his Tech career after receiving a pass from Ryan Steele and then dribbling past a couple of Rochester defenders and putting one into the back of the net. Motta would add a third goal nine minutes later to extend the lead to 3-0 before halftime. The second half would feature much of the same, as the Orange & Black added eight more shots, outshooting Rochester 21-7 in the game. Douglas Appiah Kubi would score the Warriors fourth goal of the game after a 2v1 situation that allowed Andreas Michael to pick up an easy assist, slotting the ball across the box for Appiah Kubi to tap in. Michael would then score five minutes later off a pass from Nathan Raguin to finish off the visiting Warriors 5-0 in Tech's biggest win of the season.

Indiana Tech stays undefeated in conference play at 1-0-2 and now moves to 2-3-4 on the season. The Warriors will travel to Lima, Ohio to play the University of Northwestern Ohio on Wednesday, October 4th at 2pm.
