LIMA, Ohio – The Indiana Tech women's volleyball team was in Lima, Ohio, on Wednesday night to take on the University of Northwestern Ohio Racers in their second WHAC game of the season. The Warriors were seeking their third straight win to start a streak and did just that with a 3-0 (30-28, 25-15, 25- sweep of the Racers. Tech improves to 8-2 on the season and remains unbeaten in the conference, standing at 2-0.
Tech started slow in the first set as the Racers jumped to a quick 8-1 lead over the Warriors. Facing an uphill battle, the Warriors began climbing with a 6-1 run to bring them within 2 of the Racers. The battle didn't end there as UNOH extended their lead back to 5, but the Warriors continued to chip away at the Racer's lead before Kills from
Taylor Paul and
Noelle VanOort sealed the set one win for Tech.
The Warriors flipped the script in set two as they jumped out to an 8-1 lead to start the set led by
Taylor Paul with two service aces and a kill and never looked back as they never trailed. The Warriors took control in the final set at the 7-7 mark with a 5-1 run, which gave them a lead they wouldn't let slip to take the match.
Noelle VanOort led the Warrior offense with 15 kills on the night, while
Taylor Paul served a game-high three aces, and
Andrea Schriver posted 40 assists.
Emma Westra had 3 blocks in the match, and
Jacey Blust held down the back row with 17 digs.
The Warriors take the court next on Friday as they host the annual Liz Lykowski Memorial Tournament. The Orange and Black will play Goshen College and Indiana University Northwest on Friday at 2:00 PM. Saturday Tech will take on Indiana University Southeast at 10:00 AM and will close the tournament at 2:00 PM, facing St. Ambrose University (Iowa)
