Tech Flies Past Cardinals in Big Win

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The Indiana Tech women's basketball team braved the weather to travel to Ann Arbor, Michigan, on Saturday afternoon to take on Concordia University (Mich.). Headed into the matchup, the Cardinals and Warriors were first and second in the conference, but after a dominant performance and a 61-34 win, Tech replaces Concordia at the top spot in the standings. The Orange and Black improved to 13-3 and remain unbeaten in the conference at 10-0.
 
Juliana Burris got things started for Tech, scoring their opening four points to give them an early lead, but the Warriors found themselves trailing 10-5 with 4:08 left in the opening quarter. Tech's offense started to click in the closing minutes of the first quarter, going on a 12-2 run to take a 17-12 lead into the second quarter. The Warriors maintained their momentum in the second quarter, not allowing the Cardinals to get back in the game, and extended their lead to 31-21 heading into the locker room. The Cardinal offensive struggles in the second half started in the third quarter, scoring 7 points on 2-16 shooting, while the Warrior offense stretched their lead to 14, heading into the last quarter. The fourth quarter was all Tech, outscoring the Cardinals 19-6, led by Taylor Covington, who knocked down 3 threes, as they went on to win 61-34.
 
Biggs' squad was led by Taylor Covington, who scored 17 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists. Erika Foy contributed 12 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 blocks. Korryn Smith added 8 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 blocks.
 
The Warriors are back in action on Wednesday as they continue their three-game road stretch at Lourdes University. Tip-off with the Gray Wolves is set to take place at 5:30 p.m.
