FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Indiana Tech Warriors women's hockey team played in Michigan on Friday night against Aquinas College hoping for a big win going into the weekend. They came out on top scoring 7 goals in 60 minutes of play moving their overall record to 15-5-1 on their season. This weekend was supposed to be a home and away series, but due to weather conditions, Saturday's game in Fort Wayne got postponed to a later time and date still TBD.
On Friday, The Warriors managed to score 2 goals in the first period. The first was scored by
Sophie Kuzminski and assisted by
Megan Yakiwchuk and
Halle Murray, while the second goal was scored by
Dakota Bowler and assisted by
Hailey Hudder. The Warriors scored a lone goal in the second period from
Allison Greene and assisted by
Maddie Beek and
Michelle Borland. The Warriors topped it off with 4 goals in the third period. Quickly in the third period, within three minutes of play,
Arina Jusczak scored, assisted by
Avery Johnson.
Hailey Anderson would find the back of the net shortly after with an unassisted goal.
Maddie Beek scored in the last two minutes of play in the third period assisted by
Izzy Pettem-Shand, and
Dakota Bowler finished it off, scoring the last goal of the game assisted by
Megan Yakiwchuk, and
Payton Gilmour. Julia Gross played all 60 minutes in goal, saving 8 total shots and earning a shutout after the Warriors finished with a 7-0 in Michigan on Friday afternoon.
The Warriors will be back in action next weekend playing a two-game series against the University of Massachusetts at home. The Warriors play Friday at 4pm at the SportONE/Parkview Icehouse and Saturday at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum at 2pm.
