LIVONIA, Mich. – The Indiana Tech women's basketball team was in Livonia, Michigan, over the weekend to compete in a WHAC showdown with the Madonna University Crusaders in the ACCU Arena. A dominant performance in the paint by the Warriors allowed them to extend their win streak to six games, winning 88-61 over the Crusaders. The Warriors are now 15-3 on the season and 12-0 in conference play.
Through the opening 10 minutes, Tech was in the driver's seat, but the Crusaders wouldn't let the Orange and Black pull away, tying the game every time the Warriors took the lead and went into the second quarter with the game knotted at 18. In the second quarter, the Warriors took their largest lead up to that point of six points with 2:30 left in the half, but the Crusaders cut it in half as Tech took a 35-32 lead into the locker room. Erika Foy and
Taylor Covington led the offense with 15 and 10 points, respectively. The Warriors' defense was relentless, holding the Crusaders to one field goal as Tech outscored Madonna 27-9 in the third. The Warriors stretched their lead to 33 in the final ten minutes, going on to win 88-61 on the road.
Erika Foy led the way for the Orange and Black with 34 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists.
Taylor Covington contributed 23 points, 1 rebound, and 5 assists.
Genevieve Decker added 10 points, 2 rebounds, and 1 assist.
Bethany Worm led the Warriors with 10 rebounds, adding 7 points and 8 assists.
The Warriors return home for their next contest on Wednesday, January 24, as they host the Cleary University Cougars at 6:00 p.m. in the Schaefer Center.
