Foy’s Double-Double Helps Warriors Cruise Past Cougars

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women's basketball team returned to the Schaefer Center after a three-game road stint to host the Cleary University Cougars on Wednesday evening. The Warriors got off to a quick start, controlling the game on the way to a 72-41 win to remain unbeaten in conference play. Tech improves to 16-3 on the season and 13-0 in the conference.

The Warriors got off to a quick start, opening the game on a 6-0 run, which allowed them to control the opening quarter, taking a 14-10 lead into the second. The Warriors kept control in the second quarter, holding the Cougars scoreless for the opening six minutes and allowing just three points while extending their lead to take a 34-10 advantage into the break. Out of the locker room, the Warriors maintained control of the game, but the Cougars were reluctant to allow Tech to extend their lead by more than just one point, going into the fourth quarter with a 50-32 score. The fourth quarter was more of the same for the Warriors, not letting off the gas to close the game to take their largest lead of the game at 36, going on to win 72-41.

Erika Foy led the Warriors with a double-double of 20 points, 14 rebounds, and 2 assists. Korryn Smith and Genevieve Decker added 11 points apiece, with Smith grabbing 6 rebounds and adding 4 assists, while Decker corralled 7 boards with 2 assists. Taylor Covington added 10 points, 1 rebound, and 4 assists.

The Warriors hit the road on Saturday, January 27, traveling to Grand Rapids to take on Cornerstone University. The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference showdown is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
