DEARBORN, Mich. – The Indiana Tech men's basketball team traveled to Dearborn, Michigan, on Wednesday evening for their first contest of the 2024 calendar year. In the conference match-up with the Wolverines, the Orange and Black displayed a strong performance as they returned to Fort Wayne with a 94-81 win. The Warriors improve to 8-5 on the season and 6-1 in conference play.
The first half was a close contest that consisted of four lead changes and three ties, which saw the Orange and Black take a 47-42 lead into the halftime break. Out of the locker room, the Warriors got off to a fast start as they went on a 14-3 run in the opening four minutes to extend their lead to their largest of the game, 16. The Wolverines stuck around and battled back to cut the Warrior lead to 5, but Tech took care of business down the stretch, taking control of the game and walking away with a 13-point 94-81 win.
Albert's starters combined for 76 of the Warriors' 94 points, led by Javal Lewis with 24 points, 9 rebounds, and 2 assists.
Max Perez posted 16 points, with 3 rebounds and 2 assists.
Lucas Lyyski scored 15 points while corralling 7 rebounds and 1 assist.
Brady Titus had 13 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists.
Dallas Roberts scored 11 points off the bench and added 4 rebounds and 1 assist.
Next up for the Orange and Black is a home game in which they host Rochester University on Saturday, January 6. The battle of the Warriors is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m.
