Strong Second Quarter Puts Tech Past Rochester in Big Win

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women's basketball team hosted the other Warriors in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference, Rochester University, on Saturday afternoon in the Schaefer Center. Tech took advantage of a solid second quarter, as they took a 79-44 win and remain unbeaten in the conference. The Warriors improve to 11-3 and 8-0 in conference.

Through the opening ten minutes, little could separate the Warriors. After trading buckets the whole quarter, a three from Juliana Burris as time expired gave Tech a 16-15 lead going into the second quarter. Tech came alive in the second quarter, taking control of the game, as their strong defense and high effort on the defensive boards held Rochester to three points. The Orange and Black offense was efficient and found their rhythm, shooting 61.5% from the field and 71.4% from three-point land, scoring 24 points to take a 40-18 lead into the locker room. The Orange and Black kept the momentum established in the second quarter going through the remainder of the game. Tech pushed the ball and got out in transition to start the third quarter, getting good looks at the rim to extend their lead while keeping the defensive pressure high. Tech closed the game in the fourth quarter, allowing 7 points on their way to the victory.

Erika Foy led the way for the Warriors, adding to her career double-double tally with 21 points, 11 rebounds, and 4 assists. Genevieve Decker scored 18 points, 14 in the third quarter, with 8 rebounds and 3 assists. Korryn Smith added 16 points, 2 rebounds, and 1 assist.
