LIVONIA, Mich. – The #18 ranked Indiana Tech men's soccer team was on the road for the biggest game of the season to date as they were set to take on the #20 ranked Madonna Crusaders Saturday afternoon.
The two sides were entering the contest in a tie for first atop the WHAC standings after both started 6-0 and knew that a win here could potentially be the deciding factor in the WHAC title race.
Gui Moreira would pick up a point for the fourth straight game as he put the Warriors on the board first, scoring in the 28
th minute of the game on an assist from
Alex Mihov. Madonna would equalize with just under five minutes to play in the first half as the score would sit at 1-1 going into halftime. The scoreline would stay the same for roughly the first 30 minutes of the second half as the game threatened to stay deadlocked. However, in the 75
th minute, captain
Tiago Dias would put Tech back in front on an assist from
Jahiem Rose. The Crusaders would keep fighting though and just four minutes later would equalize again to tie things up at two apiece. Neither side would register another shot in the game as both teams would have to settle for a point in the match with the game ending in a 2-2 draw.
The Warriors sit at 8-1-3 overall on the season and 6-0-1 in WHAC play. Tech and Madonna stay in a tie for first in the overall WHAC standings with 19 points each after seven games played. Both teams have four games left in the regular season. Next up for Tech is senior day as they host Concordia University on Saturday, October 19
th at 4pm.
