Men’s Soccer Blanks Cards in Senior Day Win

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The #18 ranked Indiana Tech men's soccer team held its senior day game Saturday, against Concordia University, honoring their six seniors, David Martinez, Tiago Dias, Matt Roberts, Alex Mihov, Geo Lake, and Tahj Hylton, after picking up a 4-0 home win over the Cardinals.

The Warriors would dominate the game from start to finish but would struggle to put the finishing touch on it in the first half as it took almost 44 minutes for Tech to get on the board. Saladin Lekhal would do the honors on an assist from Gui Moreira, making it a fifth straight game with a goal or assist for Moreira. With a 1-0 lead in the second half, the Tech offense would start to finish off those chances they kept creating. Lekahl would add a second goal in the 68th minute on an assist from Jahiem Rose. With under 15 minutes to go the Warriors would grab a pair of unassisted goals from Moreira and Alex Mihov just 51 seconds apart to end Concordia's hopes of any sort of comeback as the Orange & Black would cruise to a 4-0 victory. Alex Kyriakides would make the start in goal for the Warriors, making four saves over 80:29 of action.

The five eligible seniors would contribute on the field to the win for the Warriors as Geo Lake sat out of the contest with an injury. Alex Mihov would lead the Warriors with six shots, while putting three on target and scoring one over 84 minutes. Mihov and Matt Roberts would control the middle of the field for the Warriors, with Roberts also registering one shot in the game over the full 90 minutes. The center back partnership of Tiago Dias and Tahj Hylton would both play the full 90 minutes, helping the Warriors earn another clean sheet on the books as they only surrendered five shots on target in the match. Goalkeeper David Martinez would also help keep the shutout intact, playing the final 9:31 of the game in net and posting one save on senior day.

The Warriors are now 9-1-3 overall on the season and 7-0-1 in WHAC play with three games left in the regular season. Next up for Tech is WHAC rivals the University of Northwestern Ohio on Wednesday, October 23rd at 3pm.
