Warriors Blank Wolverines in Home Win

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women's soccer team hosted the University of Michigan-Dearborn on Wednesday night in a conference match after a 2-2 draw in their previous game last Saturday against Siena Heights on senior day.

The first half would be a quick 45 minutes on Wednesday with the score level at zero after both sides would fail to score despite a fair amount of shots. The Warriors would have more quality chances in the first half and would lead the overall shot count 9-7 with 6-1 on target compared to the Wolverines.

The halftime pep talk sparked the Warriors into gear immediately as Jocelyn Alfonso would score a long range shot off the goalkeeper's fingers just 16 seconds into the second half. Exactly five minutes later, Payton Kuhn would score the Warriors second after leaping up to win a header over the challenging defender and putting the ball into the back of the net. Jordan Kallet and Cassie Palazzolo would pick up the assists on the two goals.

The game would open up over the final half hour after both sides would go down to ten players with double red cards in the 63rd minute. However, neother side would score with the extra space on the field as the Warriors would see out the game. Sara Cogoli would play the full 90 minutes in goal for the Warriors, making two saves and picking up her second win of the season. The 2-0 victory would also mark Cogoli and the Warriors second clean sheet of the season.

The Orange & Black improves to 3-6-3 overall on the season and 2-2-2 in WHAC play. Tech will hit the road for their next two games with their next match on Wednesday, October 9th at 7pm in Howell, Michigan against Cleary University.
