HOWELL, Mich. – The Indiana Tech women's soccer team was on the road to play Cleary University on Wednesday night as the Warriors would pick up their second win in a row, making it seven points earned from the last three games as they move up to fifth in the WHAC standings.
Coming off a draw and a win in their previous two games, the Warriors had to feel good coming into this one. They would control the play through the first half and outshoot the Cougars 9-4 in the process. Sophomore substitute,
Payton Kuhn would take one of those shots and she would make it count, scoring the opening goal of the game in the 39
th minute.
Alina Garcia would pick up the assist on the goal as the Warriors would make it 1-0 to close out a dominate first half. The second half would feature a more even battle as Cleary would search for an equalizer. However,
Cassie Palazzolo would have other plans, making it 2-0 Tech, scoring on an
Addison Porter assist with just under 30 minutes remaining in the game. Cleary would get a few more chances to try and score, but the Warrior defense, led by
Olivia Sherman,
Abby Strasser, and Porter, would help goalkeeper
Sara Cogoli shut the Cougars down and preserve the 2-0 win. In the end, Tech would pick up a second straight shutout victory as all four Warriors would play the full 90 minutes. Cogoli would also make four saves in total, earning her third win of the season in goal.
The Warriors improve to 4-6-3 overall on the season and 3-2-2 in WHAC play after the win and will be back on the road for their next contest on Saturday, October 12
th at 1pm in Livonia, Michigan against Madonna University.
