FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women's volleyball team continued their Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) campaign on Wednesday evening as they hosted the Cardinals of Concordia University in the Schaefer Center. Tech came out on top with a 3-0 sweep over the visitors.
Tech set the tone for the match right out of the gate as a 4-0 run gave them a lead they would hold from wire-to-wire, taking set one 25-14. The Orange and Black controlled the second set through the early points, but the Cardinals refused to go down quietly, battling back to within one point of the Warriors on four separate occasions. Eventually, a kill from
Taylor Sorg sparked a short 3-0 run, which put Tech in the driver's seat with a four-point lead on their way to an eventual 25-17 second set victory. The Cardinals tripped up the Warriors at the beginning of the third set, as they grabbed an early 5-1 lead. Back-to-back kills from
Katie Gostovich helped the Warriors regain their balance as they saw their first lead of the set at the 7-6 mark. Continuing the battle, the Warriors made their move with a 7-1 run, which put Tech up by five. A lead they would see grow before settling for a 25-17 win to claim the match.
Noelle VanOort led the Warriors in kills, aces, and digs with 13, 2, and 13, respectively.
Katie Gostovich chipped in 12 kills for the Orange and Black, while
Taylor Sorg added 3 blocks, and
Sara Gomperts posted 22 assists.
The Warriors return to action on Friday in the opening game of the conference crossover tournament against Huntington University at 3:00 p.m.
