FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women's volleyball team spent the weekend hosting the first conference crossover tournament, which featured seven teams from four different conferences: the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC), Crossroads League, Mid-South Conference, and the River States Conference. The Warriors opened the tournament with a win over Crossroads opponent Huntington University on Friday afternoon. On Saturday, the Warriors faced off against two top fifteen teams, going 1-1 on the day with a loss at the hands of No. 9 Indiana Wesleyan and a win over No. 14 Grace.
Against the Foresters on Friday, the Warriors put forth a dominant performance, taking three straight sets over the visitors, 25-17, 25-10, and 25-18.
Noelle VanOort led the Side with 12 kills, while
Katie Gostovich and Amelia Schutz pitched in 9 and 6, respectively.
Kassidy Boener led the Warriors in aces and digs with 4 and 25. Hanna Teich and Schultz added 3 blocks each, while
Sara Gomperts dished out 32 assists.
In game one on Saturday, the Orange and Black faced off against the No. 9 ranked Wildcats of Indiana Wesleyan. The visitors proved why they are a top-ten team with a 3-0 sweep of the Warriors.
Noelle VanOort had a team-high 10 kills.
Hannah Teich recorded the Warriors' lone ace and led the side with 3 blocks.
Sara Gomperts tallied 16 assists, while
Kassidy Boener posted 18 digs.
In Saturday's second game against the No. 14 ranked Lancers, the Warriors came out on top with a 3-1 (16-25, 26-16, 25-23, 25-22) win for the top fifteen upset.
Noelle VanOort led the Warriors' offense with 22 kills.
Hannah Teich recorded 8 aces.
Taylor Sorg posted 3 blocks, and
Sara Gomperts led the side in assists and digs with 42 and 15, respectively.
Tech moves to 15-8 on the season and remains 7-1 in the conference. The Warriors hit the road for their next contest, resuming conference play with a trip to Defiance College on Wednesday, October 9, at 7:00 p.m.
