FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The #18 ranked Indiana Tech Warriors men's hockey team has kept their winning streak alive, as they secured their third straight sweep of the season against Cleary University. The Warriors won 9-3 on the road Friday night and 4-2 at home on Saturday night, improving their overall record to 6-0-0.
In game one, the Warriors set the tone early, with
Michael Dalaly finding the back of the net first just under three minutes in, assisted by
Alex Carrothers and
Isaiah Gagerman. Cleary answered not long after, but Indiana Tech reclaimed the lead before the first intermission as
Brandon Plummer scored with assists from
Austin Sawyer and
Luke Anderson making it 2-1. Cleary managed to stay alive as they evened the score, but Indiana Tech responded quickly, just over a minute later,
Francesco Santaniello scored unassisted to put the Warriors back on top. The period closed with two quick goals from Indiana Tech's
Bobby Hathcock and Dalaly's second of the night both unassisted, stretching the lead to 5-2 heading into the final period. The Warriors wasted no time in the third as Dalaly completed his hat trick just over a minute in, assisted by
Nikita Ivasenko and
Aidan Dufort. Cleary got one back on the power play, but Indiana Tech sealed the win with 3 solid goals—
Jeremy Dunmore scored twice (13:47 and 14:55), while
Aidan Dufort added the final tally at 16:11 making it a 9-3 victory on the road. Goaltender
Gage Reimer played a total of 60 minutes, saving 22 shots.
In game two, Indiana Tech wasted no time taking control early as
Joey Mocnik put the Warriors on the board, assisted by
Malik Ali. Indiana Tech doubled their lead not long after when
Michael Dalaly scored his fourth goal of the season, assisted by Ali and
Aidan Dufort. Cleary responded at 15:48 on a power-play which cut the lead to 2-1 for the Warriors going into the 2nd period. Cleary kept the momentum going in the second period, tying the game at 2-2 at the 7:37 mark. The game remained tied going into the third period, but Indiana Tech took over breaking the tie at 12:30 on a power-play goal by
Ian Vannelli, assisted by
Pavel Svoboda. The Warriors sealed the victory late, with
Nikita Ivasenko at 19:17, in the third period. Goaltender
Braedyn Funke played a total of 60 minutes, saving 31 shots.
The Indiana Tech Warriors are back next weekend for more action, as they host Rochester Christian University at the SportONE/Parkview Icehouse on Friday, October 25
th at 7:30pm, and on the road Saturday, October 26
th in Fraser, Michigan for their second game of the series
