FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The #18 ranked Indiana Tech Men's hockey team brought the brooms out for another series sweep against Rochester Christian University. Not only did they sweep their opponents, but they also managed to net a total of 30 goals in two games, as well as post two shutouts against them. This moves their overall undefeated record to 8-0-0 and 6-0-0 in the WHAC.
In game one at the SportONE/Parview Icehouse in Fort Wayne, Indiana the scoring began in the first period on a power play.
Isaiah Gagerman would open the floodgates at 11:08, assisted by
Joey Mocnik, then Tech would score another power play goal from
Malik Ali, who was set up by
Jeremy Dunmore and Mocnik. Indiana Tech extended their lead as
Aidan Dufort scored at 8:50 off a pass from
Mason Bazaluk. Not long after, Bazaluk found the net himself at 17:05, which was assisted by Dunmore and
Michael Dalaly. Dufort added another power play goal just before the second intermission, set up by Ali, making it 5-0 going into the final period. The third was full of domination as the Warriors netted eight more goals.
Malik Ali scored again just a minute in with assists from Mocnik and Dufort.
Connor Funke added another goal seconds later, assisted by
Francesco Santaniello. Dunmore, Santaniello, and Ali each continued to rack up points, adding to the lead with further contributions from
Pavel Svoboda.
Luke Anderson and Dalaly each added unassisted goals as well, capping the game off with a 13-0 win at home on Friday night. Goaltender
Brodie Haylock played a solid 60 minutes in goal, saving a total of ten shots and picking up his first career win as a Warrior in his debut game.
In game two, the Warriors traveled to Rochester, Michigan for a late-night game.
Joey McCreadie kicked things off with a goal at 4:02 assisted by
Ian Vannelli.
Michael Dalaly followed with a goal at 7:57 with assists from
Jeremy Dunmore and
Malik Ali.
Malik Ali added another at 12:45, assisted by Dalaly and Vannelli.
Pavel Svoboda joined the tally at 14:56, assisted by Ali and
Sebastian Potter.
Brandon Plummer added one more at 17:32, set up by Joseph Fata.
Jeremy Dunmore finished off the period at 19:49 on a power play, assisted by
Isaiah Gagerman and
Aidan Dufort, giving Indiana Tech a commanding 6-0 lead going into the second period. In the second period, the domination continued as
Malik Ali scored a power play goal at 2:19, assisted by Gagerman and Dunmore. Dalaly followed at 6:58, assisted by Joseph Mocnik and McCreadie.
Connor Funke capitalized on another power play at 9:43 for the Warriors with assists from Svoboda and Vannelli.
Francesco Santaniello added another one to the board at 15:08, assisted by Svoboda and Gagerman, extending the lead to 11-0. The third period continued the Warriors dominance as Santaniello scored unassisted at 1:45, and Svoboda added a power play goal at 3:12, with assists from Vannelli and Plummer.
Ian Vannelli found the back of the net himself at 4:07 unassisted, while
Austin Sawyer scored at 6:07 with an assist from Mocnik. Dunmore added his second power play goal of the game at 13:02, set up by Dufort and Ali. Joseph Fata got another one in at 15:41, assisted by
Ryan Doucette and Plummer, and to finish it off
Isaiah Gagerman closed out the scoring at 18:42 with assists from Ali and Dalaly finishing with a 17-0 win on the road. Goaltender
Brodie Haylock played his second full 60 minutes of the weekend saving a total of eight shots.
The Indiana Tech Men's hockey team has a quick turnaround as they prepare to travel to Adrian, Michigan to play the 2024 National Champions and #1 Adrian College Bulldogs on Wednesday, October 30
th at 7pm. Tech will then be back at home Friday, October 1
st at 7:30pm at the SportONE/Parkview Icehouse in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
