WASHINGTON, Mich. – The Indiana Tech women's soccer team traveled to Michigan for a road WHAC matchup against the Rochester Christian University Warriors on Saturday afternoon, where Rochester Christian took the contest 2-1.
Today's game would have big implications on the final WHAC standings as both sides are still trying to secure their spot in the tournament. The first half would go scoreless as both keepers would make three saves to keep their sides level. Chaos would ensue in the second half starting with Rochester Christian receiving a red card with 30 minutes to play. However, despite playing a girl down, the home side would find the back of the net in the 73
rd minute through Olivia Howes. Four minutes later, she would score a second goal to make it 2-0 to Rochester Christian. Tech would stay in it when
Abbie Hulme would score less than four minutes after going down by two as they got the deficit back to one. The Warriors would desperately search for an equalizer over the final nine minutes but would be unable to do so as they would ultimately fall just short in this one.
Ursula Romero would play well in goal for Tech, making seven saves over the 90 minutes.
The Warriors drop to 5-9-3 overall on the season and 4-5-2 in WHAC play. Tech currently sits in a tie for 7
th and 8
th in the standings with Madonna as they approach the final day of the regular season next Wednesday. The Warriors will be on the road to play 9
th place Lawrence Tech, needing at least a draw to ensure their spot in postseason play. Kickoff is set for 7pm on October 30
th in Southfield, Michigan.
